Hello guys! This is week 4 of the blitz project. The ‘blitz’ project is a project that will end up showcasing a blend of fashion and music by displaying and making/designing clothing articles and accessories inspired by music.

LAST WEEK

I have posted three other blog updates for the past couple of weeks which you can check out in the blog section under the ‘BLITZ’ category. Last I designed and created an iPad bag influenced by early 2010s pop music. You can find pictures of the finished product in my past post.

NOW

This week, I thought of exploring clothing item designs. I thought of making a playlist of songs then trying to come up with outfits or items that would be a good match in their music video in order to match the music. I designed and explored some designs with songs like Torches (X Ambassadors), Anxiety (Julia Michaels and Selena Gomez), and If You Want Love (NF). To some items, I looked at artists like Taylor Swift and focused on her earlier more country era. This week I didn't really spend time on the fabrics like I did last week, but I did spend time on how I would want the item to look. I also began to look into folklorico music and thought of making ribbons for hair and accessories for the performers. However, that was just an idea, but I don't think I'm going to add that to my final

playlist of songs and designs. This whole designing process taught me how to incorporate my vision with the artists' vision of the song. For example, if it's a love song by Taylor Swift, I would imagine a long tailed dress or a sundress (as shown on left picture) placed outdoors. The dress would be a light color like light blue, yellow, or orange. The belt would be brown and maybe matched with boots. The following designs include jean jackets, and shirts. The jean jacket was inspired by the song Torches by X Ambassadors.

I wanted to go with a plain simple look but I wanted it to have a design that could be referenced to the song for those who know it. I also thought about adding the word 'TORCHES' to the back for the custom look.

The next design is a simple shirt that goes with the song Anxiety by Julia Michaels ft. Selena Gomez. This is a design I have had for over a year now since I had a fundraiser to raise awareness for mental health, but I thought it could be used for this song as well.

Not Alone Clothing

The design is a simple 'You're Not Alone' sign to raise awareness and remind yourself that you're not alone dealing with stuff which is what Julia wants people to get out of listening to the song.

OBSTACLES

Unlike last week, this week had a lot of complications. The main complication was having to deal with a broken laptop. Since I didn't have access to my designs or notes due to my issue, I had to start all over again, but I think it worked out pretty well. Not having access to my software made it different since I had to try and recreate the designs on paper. Luckily, my iPad was still working so I made the designs of the jacket and dress easier to look at (with less eraser markings).

I also couldn't update the small Blitz logo due to this, but hopefully by next week I will be able to reveal it.

PROGRESS

This week really moved my project along by making me think of how an artist can have a different visual for the song then expected. Some music videos seem like they have nothing to do with the song, but in my vision, each song tells a story. This made me visualize the music video in a whole new way with different outfit choices. This also goes with performances. Each performance can be different, either having props or clothing that tell the story with the song or have things that don't match. The representation varies to each person, but this week made me explore my side of how I think these songs are represented and how I visualize them. Therefore, for the coming weeks, I will go with how I visualize the music video outfits. As for next week, I think I will show some colored designs of outfits or articles of clothing. I would hopefully have my laptop back and fixed by then, so I think I will also post a playlist of the songs I want to represent for this 8 week project.
