Hello guys! This is week 3 of the blitz project. The ‘blitz’ project is a project that will end up showcasing a blend of fashion and music by displaying and making/designing clothing articles and accessories inspired by music.

LAST WEEK

I have posted two other blog updates for the past two weeks which you can check out in the blog section under the ‘BLITZ’ category. Last week I talked about doing a remix of different songs in order to display a variety of items. And as promised, I have attached a prototype of a finished design.

NOW

Now in week three, I thought of exploring one aspect of it. Week three was about the time I started to get adjusted and started to really explore the creativity of this project. I started exploring in the past. Early 2010s to be exact. I started to look at the hits and got flashbacks of how times were when those songs were on the radio. Then I got the idea to turn it into and accessory. My inspiration for the colors and fabrics came from the 2012/2013 hits. I grabbed ideas and vibes from Kesha, Nicki Minaj, and the pop genre during the early 2010s. This is the first week I started to develop and make a prototype.

I spent some time in designing and getting the right colorful fabric and combining them into something that is easy on the eyes. I began thinking of colors and thinking of what item to make first. I decided to make an iPad bag since that is something that I can use on the daily. As I was approaching this, I decided to take the fabrics and see what colors would be dominate and what style I would want the bag to be. I chose to go with a soft look, couple pockets to be beneficial for storing chargers, accessories and such. Then I decided to add a pocket in the back for easier access to items needed. As for the fabrics, I decided to go with

  • colorful

  • vibrant colors

to reflect Kesha, Nicki Minaj, and pop during those years. Since I thought the colorful was too much to take up all of the bag, I got a black fabric to make it easier to look at, luckily I found a treble clef pattern that was perfect for the music theme. I have attached some pictures of the final result of the finished product.

This whole designing process taught me how to make simple items yet make them look unique, which is something that I can keep in mind while trying to create items in a limited time space such as these 8 weeks.

OBSTACLES

This week went by pretty smooth. The only complication was trying to find the right fabrics that complement each other yet represent the colorful times. I think this design turned out better than expected and was actually happy with it. If someone has ideas to design and create their own stuff, I would recommend that they shouldn’t be scared to explore and if it doesn’t work out then try again and maybe even make minor changes.

PROGRESS

This week really moved my project along by making me thing of how representation of a song can be shown in many different ways and not just one. This makes me not limit my mindset to ‘it’s right or wrong’ because when you’re being creative and expressing how you take that art, there’s no right or wrong ways to do and show it. As for next week, I think I will show some drawings of outfit designs or articles of clothing since I somehow got the hang of it this week.
